HP Photosmart Quick tip

Never fear—your original is always saved.

When you edit an image in HP Photosmart Essential, it always saves a copy of your original image.

So you can play with the image to your heart's content, knowing that if something goes wrong, your original is always there.

This ensures that you always have a copy of the original image to view, edit, print, or share.

Locate original images

To locate an original image

  1. Select the View tab.
  2. Set the view option to Thumbnail View or Single Image View.
  3. Depending on the view option, do one of the following:
    • In Thumbnail view, click the down arrow in the lower-right corner of the edited image. Select Locate Original Image.
    • In Single Image view, click the Options button and select Locate Original Image.
    • Right-click on any image and select Locate Original Image from the drop-down list.
  4. In the explorer window that opens, look for the file with the ".orig" extension. You can then copy the file to another location or rename the file. Delete the ".orig" extension and import the image into HP Photosmart Essential using the Get Images option.
