Instructions for getting started with Permap 11.8. After unzipping the Permap download you will have this instruction file, Permap.exe, some example files, a default-values file, and a WAV file. Place all of these files in a directory of your choice. Normally Windows wants your programs to go in C:\Program Files but you can choose any directory you want. You might want to put a shortcut to Permap.exe on your desktop. To do this just right click on Permap.exe and drag it to the desktop. Choose "Create Shortcut Here" when you release the right mouse button. Permap is now ready to use. Permap can be uninstalled simply by erasing the Permap files because no Registry entries have been made. Start the program by double clicking the Permap shortcut or by double clicking Permap.exe in your Permap directory. Permap can be controlled by a mouse or keyboard. The alt-key gets you to and from the menu bar, the tab-key shifts between controls, and the enter-key activates a control. rbh May 2011 P.S., for you that have used older Permap versions, you will no longer find the "install" system that Microsoft suggests be used for transmitting programs. I found that the current version of the Microsoft install program "calls home" to Microsoft. I don't know what it is doing so I have eliminated the install feature completely. Now just copy the Permap files to a directory of your choice and start it up by double clicking on Permap.exe. Permap will never initiate any Internet activity. If you do detect some web communication that is associated with running Permap then there is something seriously wrong and I recommend erasing your copy immediately and downloading a new copy from a trustworthy source.
